Day 15: Begin Again - Intentionally
A new week begins. And with that new opportunities.
As I walked to an appointment earlier today, I listened to Oprah’s Super Soul Sunday podcast (yes event though it’s Monday). She was in conversation with Gary Zukav the author of several books including ‘The Seat of the Soul’.
I won’t summarise the whole conversation, partly because I didn’t know I was going to write about it so didn’t listen in that way. But today, for some reason, maybe because I’m ready, I connected to the part of the conversation that was about Intention.
I have heard Oprah talk before about intention and about how she insisted that her producers came to her with show ideas that included the intention behind the show. How would bringing someone on the show to talk about a particular experience serve the audiences that followed her. It’s said that content of any kind should educate, entertain and/or inspire and watchers of the Oprah Winfrey show can see how she achieved all of that, unlike the Jerry Springer show which tended to be more on the gladiatorial entertaining end of the spectrum, for instance. But aside from that the thing that struck me most was that it’s something she, Oprah, factors into all of her decisions and plans.
I’m good at setting strategic intentions, not necessarily great at setting daily intentions. I have a list of things to do, but I wonder whether that list is underpinned with intention. I think it is but, I’m not sure, so I guess I’m saying my days could benefit from conscious intention, in fact, my list of actions could probably benefit from that conscious intention.
So the week begins. I know there are a couple of days where personal matters will need to take me away from my work, but the intention is not to let them take over.
We’ll see how that works out.
