12th February 2017: Day 24 - Dare to Dream au Chocolat

Who likes chocolate?

I do!!!!

Who likes to meditate?

I do!

Who would like to meditate with chocolate?

Huh?

LOL it’s not chocolate, it’s cacao, the raw, pure form of chocolate; untreated, unprocessed, full of the active ingredients that get lost in a pack of minstrels or even the more expensive types of chocolate.

I spent this afternoon at a guided visualisation with my friends from my business mastermind group where Lisa (a member of the group) led us with the aid of cacao that we had in the form of a warm drink. Apparently, cacao was first used as a kind of ceremonial medicine a few thousand years ago in Central America and then later, the Aztec and Mayan cultures used it as a ritualistic medicine. You know that high-ish feeling you get when you eat expensive chocolate? Well it’s that and more -  you feel quite good. That feeling comes from something called theobromine which is one of the active compounds of cacao. It stimulates the heart and the blood and increases the flow of oxygen in the blood

We drank the small glass of cacao and set our intentions for the meditation. We were invited to think about what we wanted to get out of the session, if there were any questions we needed answered or if there was anything we were seeking clarity about. Lisa talked us through the visualisation and invited us to connect to our higher self – whatever that meant to each of us. For me rather than a visual representation I got counsel and the process was affirming, reassuring me that I know what needs to be done and to stop talking myself into having limitations. For others, it was something different.

This wasn’t what I was expecting. Yesterday I bought myself a ‘Dare to Dream’ book where I will paste images of my hopes dreams and aspirations. I thought that was what I would doing this session so I took my newspapers and my book thinking I would be cutting and sticking for the afternoon. What I got was something more. I connected with myself, I got the reassurance I needed but I also connected with the people in the group at a level and in a way I haven’t been able to.

The only thing I want to say is try it. It’s not like taking a performance enhancing drug. Raw cacao is said to be a ‘heart opener’. It helps you to connect with negative emotions in order to release them because it fosters self-love. Lisa led the visualisation and facilitated the (optional) sharing with the quiet confidence of someone who knows what they are doing and believes in the benefits of cacao which gave me the confidence to sit back and enjoy the experience.

I really wish I could express what I got out of it better. I think, though that I’m still processing my experience -  I can still feel the effects of the cacao. I have a sense of wellbeing, a confidence I didn’t have this morning and I feel kind of loved up too.

Who would like to meditate with chocolate?

Me! Me! Me!

I’ll definitely be doing this again. It’s so easy to allow ourselves to get caught up in that voice that tells us we can’t do it, or the one that likes to berate us for what we could’ve, should’ve would’ve done. But who wouldn’t rather be connected with the part of them that tells them they are loved, they are nurtured, they are protected. That part of us that knows who we truly are, that has been holding that knowledge until we are ready to reconnect with it?

Me! Me! Me!
